Eric McNeely
Eric McNeely is seeking re-election as Provincial President of the BC Ferry & Marine Workers’ Union (BCFMWU). The BCFMWU is the largest maritime Union in Canada, representing over 4700 members across 37 vessels, 47 ports of call, and numerous other job sites. Prior to his role as Provincial President, Eric was active in his Local Executive while working in both the navigational and engineering departments aboard the vessels.

The past three years have seen unprecedented turnover at BC Ferries, soaring inflation, and sailing disruptions unlike anything we have witnessed since the 2003 strike.
The next three years have the potential to move ferry workers forward, closer to where we should be and where we deserve to be as the vital link for coast British Columbians. Wages are just the beginning!

For the last three years I have had the pleasure of working beside Eric McNeely. I’m proud to say I will be voting for his re-election in the coming ballot and ask that you do as well. Eric’s strategic approach to leadership is how we were able to achieve so much this term. When a wrench was thrown into plans his ability to adjust with a measured reaction is what we need to win. The 2024-2027 term has a planned wage re-opener in addition to bargaining a new collective agreement. We need to continue our momentum and assert our rights with unity as one Union. Now is our chance to continue the rise up; back to where people can once again be jealous of ferry workers wages and working conditions. United we will never be defeated.

"I have had the honour of serving with Eric when he was local 2's First Vice President in 2015-18 and when he was our Local 2 President from 2018-21. We have now had the chance to see him as Provincial President in some of the most challenging times our union has faced. Eric stood against an employer who would undermine us on pay and supports. Eric has proven to be the adult in the room when we needed that leadership most. I know, I was there. In the coming question over who should lead our union into the next wage reopener and bargaining session, there is no doubt in my mind that Eric McNeely is the most qualified and ready for the job. Eric has passed the test of leadership."
